15 proposals from German farmers who are in no database

  • 15proposals sent
  • 45days
  • 2search radii around each address (250 and 500 meters)

01Challenge

Contrade supplies concrete slabs for paving, with its own fleet that lays the slabs straight off the truck. In Germany almost nobody knew them. The target group was agricultural businesses in North Rhine-Westphalia. They are not on LinkedIn, not in Apollo or Prospeo, and sometimes do not even have a website. A normal list was not possible.

02Approach

  1. SignalI searched for the businesses in Google Maps. That is the only place they exist.

  2. ListI cleaned the results in Clay and kept only real agricultural businesses.

  3. InsightWith the Overpass API of OpenStreetMap I checked what kind of land lies within 250 and 500 meters of each address: grassland, pasture, orchard, forest. From that I estimated roughly how many hectares they farm, on purpose as a range and not exact to the hectare.

  4. ContactThe email address came from their own site, via LeadMagic. At such small businesses the owner usually sits behind the info address.

  5. MessageWritten by hand in German, in four parts: hook, pain, offer, ask. One email per list. The hook names the land around their own address. The second email offers photos of a project near them. Sent with Instantly.

The whole approach is in my video about German farmers: How to cold email German farmers no database has, using satellite data.

03Result

In 45 days 15 proposals went out, to a group the company did not know it could reach by email. The list was the message: someone nobody else can find also gets email from nobody else.
